Videocon to launch 4G services: data packs and other information

According to some reports, Videocon might be launching 4G services in India very soon. They are expected to launch 4G carriers by December 2014-January 2015. This news is coming after 4G World India Conference in which it was revealed by Videocon Telecom CEO Arvind Bali that they are planning to launch their 4G services in various parts of India and most probably it will go to floor by end of current year. As per as the initial reports/leaks are concerned then Videocon 4G might be launched in 10 towns on start-up basis. These 10 towns may include cities in Gujarat, MP, Haryana etc.

Company is planning to come up with various high speed data operations like IPTV on 4G network. The best thing that Videocon will be doing is the bandwidth spectrum. Till now we have seen various other telecom companies like Airtel, Idea, Vodafone etc to come up with 4G services on much higher spectrum (which is not there on most of the mobiles). But if reports are to be believed then Videocon will be doing this magic on 1800 MHz spectrum. If it will be the case then they will become the first company in India which will provide high speed 4G services on regular spectrum. This spectrum is used by most of the normal/smart phones and it will surely entertain a big group of audience.

Reports also say that company is planning to launch direct 4G services in areas where it hasn’t launched 2G carriers. According to me they should start with 2G first (in those areas) or they should launch both 2G and 4G in those limited areas. In order to realize this concept they are currently in talks with equipment vendor which will help them to realize this dream.

Talking about other companies then Airtel, Reliance, Idea and Vodafone are the providers who have initiated this 4G services war in India. Most of these companies have launched their 4G services in various regions. Airtel is providing 4G services through TDD-LTE platform that is suitable with 2300 MHz spectrum. Airtel has exclusively launched 4G services for mobile phones in Bengaluru. Reliance is too using TDD-LTE platform for 4G carrier but they have promised to use FDD as soon as possible. Idea and Vodafone has said to use similar FDD-LTE services for launching the high data rate services.

All the companies are nice and will offer different data packs for 4G services. But the best thing that Videocon is realizing it 4G on 1800 MHz spectrum. I will soon come up with detailed information about value/data packs for Videocon 4G.
