Mercury mTAB Lite launched for Rs. 6,000 with average specs

Indian market is witnessing a flood of voice calling Android tablets these days. Now Kobian launchers Mercury have launched mTAB Lite in Indian market. The best thing about this tablet is its price. The price is kept really low and they have further added voice calling facility which seems simply superb. It scores average from appearance point with 12 mm thickness and 320 grams weight. These dimensions are pretty similar to all other 7 inchers.

Mercury is new brand to Indian customers so there might be some hesitations. But friends if you look upon the specs (in accordance to price) then you will surely forget about company repot and all.

Mercury mTAB Lite features
It comes with a standard 7 inch screen with 800x480 pixels resolution, capacitive touch and multi-touch i/p response. It runs on Android 4.0 ICS OS which might seems older these days. Also company has not confirmed whether they will upgrade it or not so this tablet scores bit lower here. However again if you go with price then ICS is perfect but still by seeing current competition, it should be at least stacked to 4.1 Jellybean minimum. It is powered by single core Vimicro Cortex A8 chipped processor with 1 GHz clock and 512 MB RAM. So like OS, same is the case with processor too. Means generally single core processor will lead to latches but it matches it price perfectly.

VGA rear and VGA front facing cameras are there which shoots images with decent quality and 4 GB internal memory slot is given to store all those images and other data volumes. It is integrated with Adobe Flash 11.1 built in speakers which is something interesting.

It supports 2G network with SIM/calling facility. It allows you to access internet through SIM slot or through Wi-Fi connections. Further Bluetooth 3.0 and USB 2.0 connectivity options are there which shares data with decent speed. It houses 2700 mAh battery which seems pretty good for ICS and single core processor.

Price and availability
Price of Mercury mTAB Lite is Rs. 6,000. Being a foreign company, it might take some time to reach to your nearby stores but you can book and order it from all major online stores.

Pros and Cons
Pros
• Very low price
• SIM facility
• Front + rear camera
• Inbuilt speaker

Cons
• Older OS
• Slow processor

Final words
I think company should not have compromised with some main features like OS and processor. They might have exceeded its budget a bit more to stuff latest OS and processor chips inside. But nevertheless, it is a good deal to go with.
